Cervélo Road Bike Size Guide: Find Your Fit by Height and Leg Length

Cervélo Road Bike Size Guide: Find Your Fit by Height and Leg Length

Cervélo road bike size guide

Cervélo uses clear numbered sizes from 48 to 61 and its sizing is fairly true, so your usual road size is a good starting point. The character to know is that the race models, the S5, R5 and Soloist, put you in a low and long position, while the Caledonia is the relaxed endurance choice. One quirk matters most: the S5 aero bike tops out at size 58, so the tallest riders need the R5, Soloist or Caledonia.

This guide gives you a quick recommendation by height and leg length, then the detail for each current road model: the sizes, official stack and reach, and what real riders report. Ready to shop? Browse all Cervélo bikes at Bikeroom.

Please note: The size suggestions in this guide are indicative only. They are a starting point based on average body proportions and official geometry, not a guarantee of fit. Your ideal size can vary with torso and arm length, flexibility, riding style, and personal preference. For the best result, confirm your size with a professional bike fit or contact our team before you buy.

Quick size finder

Find your height row, cross check your leg length (inseam), and read across to your model. The R5, Soloist and Caledonia run the full 48 to 61 range; the S5 stops at 58.

Rider height Leg length (inseam) S5 (aero) R5 (climbing) Soloist (all rounder) Caledonia (endurance)
150 to 160 cm 66 to 73 cm 48 48 48 48
160 to 168 cm 72 to 78 cm 51 51 51 51
168 to 176 cm 77 to 83 cm 54 54 54 54
176 to 184 cm 82 to 88 cm 56 56 56 56
184 to 192 cm 87 to 93 cm 58 58 58 58
192 to 200 cm 92 to 99 cm 58 (max) 61 61 61

These ranges are a starting point. Sizes overlap at the boundaries, so proportions decide it: normal build points to the smaller size, long legs point to the larger. Your ideal size also depends on flexibility and how aggressive you want your position.

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand barefoot against a wall, heels together, and measure to the top of your head.

Leg length (inseam). Stand barefoot with feet about 15 cm apart. Place a book spine up between your legs and press it to the wall as if it were a saddle. Measure from the floor to the top of the book. That figure is your inseam.

The quick formula. Multiply your inseam in cm by 0.66 to get an approximate frame size in cm, then match it to the nearest Cervélo number. Example: an 82 cm inseam gives about 54, which points to a 54 or 56. Cervélo also offers an online fit calculator, but treat any tool as a cross check, not a final answer.

The current road range and how each model fits

S5 (aero)

The S5 is the aero race bike, aggressive but livable, with fast and precise handling. Note it comes in 5 sizes only and tops out at 58. Available in 5 sizes: 48, 51, 54, 56 and 58.

Frame size 48 51 54 56 58
Stack (mm) 496 519 542 565 588
Reach (mm) 367 376 384 392 401
Rider height 150 to 160 160 to 168 168 to 176 176 to 184 184 to 192

An aggressive aero position that stays sustainable. Riders taller than about 192 cm should look at the R5, Soloist or Caledonia, since the S5 has no 61.

R5 (lightweight climbing)

The R5 is the lightweight climbing bike. The current generation shares its fit with the S5, so if you know one, you know the other. Available in 6 sizes: 48, 51, 54, 56, 58 and 61.

Frame size 48 51 54 56 58 61
Stack (mm) 497 522 547 572 597 622
Reach (mm) 363 371 380 389 398 407
Rider height 150 to 160 160 to 168 168 to 176 176 to 184 184 to 192 192 to 200

Race focused and light. Now matched to the S5 fit, so pros and riders can swap between the two without changing position.

Soloist (all rounder)

The Soloist is the versatile all rounder, with near race reach close to the S5 but positioned as a friendlier, do everything bike. Available in 6 sizes: 48, 51, 54, 56, 58 and 61.

Frame size 48 51 54 56 58 61
Stack (mm) 491 515 540 565 590 615
Reach (mm) 363 374 383 392 401 410
Rider height 150 to 160 160 to 168 168 to 176 176 to 184 184 to 192 192 to 200

Race sharp fit with more everyday versatility. A strong value pick that keeps a near race position.

Caledonia and Caledonia 5 (endurance)

The Caledonia is the endurance and all road bike, with a taller stack and shorter reach for a more upright, comfortable and stable position. The Caledonia 5 shares identical geometry, with the difference being a lighter, higher grade carbon and premium spec. Available in 6 sizes: 48, 51, 54, 56, 58 and 61.

Frame size 48 51 54 56 58 61
Stack (mm) 505 530 555 580 605 630
Reach (mm) 360 369 378 387 396 405
Rider height 150 to 160 160 to 168 168 to 176 176 to 184 184 to 192 192 to 200

The comfort choice. About 13 to 15 mm more stack than the R5 at the same size, so ideal if the race models feel too low at the front.

What riders say about Cervélo sizing

Feedback from cycling forums, reviews and long term owners points to a few consistent themes worth knowing before you buy.

Cervélo sizing runs fairly true, but racy. Owners do not report the brand running dramatically small or large, though the S5, R5 and Soloist put you in an aggressive position. Riders coming from relaxed geometry should expect a lower front end.

Decide boundary cases by proportions, not just height. Normal leg to torso proportions point to the smaller size, long legs and a short torso point to sizing up, and short legs with a long torso point to sizing down with a longer stem.

R5 and S5 now fit the same. The current R5 was deliberately matched to the S5, so your size carries across the two. The Soloist sits very close in reach as well.

The Caledonia is the comfort pick. Same geometry as the Caledonia 5, noticeably taller and shorter than the race bikes, and praised for calm, stable long distance manners.

Still unsure between two sizes?

Use this simple rule: choose the smaller frame for sharper handling and a racier position, or the larger frame for more comfort and stability. A shorter torso or long legs points to the smaller size, a long torso or short legs points to the larger one.
