KTM Gravel Size Guide: Gravelator and X-Strada

KTM Gravel Size Guide: Gravelator and X-Strada

KTM gravel sizing: Gravelator and X-Strada

KTM's gravel line is in the middle of a generation change. The all new Gravelator, offered in both carbon and alloy, is the current bike, and it replaces the outgoing X-Strada that you may still find in stock. Both use numeric frame sizes from 49 to 59, matched to XS through XL. The key thing to know is that the carbon Gravelator sits lower and racier while the alloy version is more relaxed and upright, so pick the platform for the position you want, then size by height and reach. Explore what is available on our KTM collection.

Please note. These recommendations are indicative and a starting point, not a guarantee of fit. Body proportions, flexibility and riding style all shift the answer, so read the reach and stack numbers with the height bands and confirm against the exact bike before you buy.

Quick size finder

Rider height Leg length (inseam) Gravelator X-Strada
150 to 165 cm 68 to 74 cm XS (49) XS (49)
165 to 170 cm 74 to 77 cm S (52) S (52)
170 to 179 cm 77 to 83 cm M (55) M (55)
179 to 187 cm 83 to 88 cm L (57) L (57)
187 to 195 cm 88 to 93 cm XL (59) XL (59)

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand barefoot with your back to a wall, heels together, and mark the top of your head. Measure straight down to the floor.

Leg length (inseam). Barefoot, feet about 15 cm apart, raise a hardback book spine up firmly against your sit bones as a saddle would sit. Measure from the top of the book to the floor. Your inseam matters more than height for standover clearance and saddle height.

KTM Gravelator (carbon)

The carbon Gravelator has a sporty, slightly aggressive all road position with neutral, stable steering. Its reach grows only a little between the larger sizes, so taller riders gain height in stack more than in length.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
XS (49) 377 552 150 to 164 cm
S (52) 388 565 165 to 169 cm
M (55) 404 579 170 to 179 cm
L (57) 408 598 180 to 187 cm
XL (59) 411 619 187 to 194 cm

Fit character: sporty and stable, an eager all road racer.

KTM Gravelator (alloy)

The alloy Gravelator shares the size labels but runs a taller stack at each size for a more comfortable, upright position with an adventure and bikepacking bias.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
XS (49) 374 577 150 to 164 cm
S (52) 390 594 165 to 169 cm
M (55) 404 612 170 to 179 cm
L (57) 422 622 180 to 187 cm
XL (59) 438 636 187 to 194 cm

Fit character: relaxed and comfortable, tuned for long adventures.

KTM X-Strada

The outgoing X-Strada is a racy gravel bike with a long reach and a low, leaned over position. If you are shorter in the leg or new to an aggressive fit, check the geometry carefully and consider sizing down.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
XS (49) 400 542 159 to 167 cm
S (52) 410 560 167 to 175 cm
M (55) 418 583 175 to 182 cm
L (57) 431 590 182 to 189 cm
XL (59) 442 603 189 to 197 cm

Fit character: long and low, a leaned over aero gravel racer.

What KTM riders find

Reviewers describe the new Gravelator as sport meeting everyday life, with a position that shifts from balanced on the alloy to sportier on the carbon, and note it is confident across terrain and well set up for bikepacking mounts. The outgoing X-Strada is praised for pace but noted to force a leaned over, aerodynamic position, with comfort coming from a flexing seatpost rather than the frame, so it rewards a careful look at reach before buying.

Between two sizes?

If your height and inseam fall on a boundary, think about how you ride. Choose the smaller size for a lower, racier front end and quicker handling, which suits fast riding and flexible riders. Choose the larger size for a taller, more relaxed front end and steadier handling over long days. On the carbon Gravelator remember that the larger sizes add height more than length, and comparing stack and reach with a bike you already ride is the most reliable way to decide.

Choosing between the carbon and alloy Gravelator, or unsure on size? We are happy to help you get it right. Talk to our concierge.

Stack and reach figures are drawn from official KTM data where possible. Rider height and inseam bands are indicative estimates; the alloy Gravelator shares the carbon height chart, and the X-Strada bands are estimated. Note that KTM does not offer a Grand Canyon gravel bike, so it is not included here. Always confirm geometry against the exact bike and model year before buying.
