Summary
- The Enve Melee v2 launched on 10 September 2026. Enve claims a 791 g frame in size 56, a 6.8 kg complete bike with SRAM Red AXS and 17 watts saved over the v1 at 50 km/h.
- Tyre clearance drops from 35 to 33 mm and the mudguard mounts are gone. The front end sits 11 mm lower in sizes 56 to 60.
- In the Cyclingnews wind tunnel, with a rider on board, it was the third fastest bike the magazine has tested, 1.66 watts behind the Cervélo S5 and about a kilogram lighter.
- Frameset €4,999. Complete bikes from roughly €10,149 to €15,199 depending on build.
- The versatile Melee is now the v1, and that is the one you find Pre-Owned. If you race, the v2 is a different proposition.
What changed, and what Enve gave up
The first Melee, launched in 2022, was an unusual race bike: 35 mm clearance, mudguard mounts, a tall front end. TotalEnergies raced it from 2024 and, according to Escape Collective, some riders struggled to get low enough on it.
The v2 removes all three. Clearance is 33 mm, the mounts are gone, and the stack on a size 56 is 5 mm lower on the frame alone. With the new SES Aero Road bar the front end drops by 11 mm.
Frame surface area is down 7.5%. The head tube is slimmer and deeper, with a smaller headset. The bottom bracket moves from T47 to threaded BSA, which Enve says is 30% lighter, and the rear end adopts UDH.
Weight: the claim and two scales
Enve's frameset page says under 800 g for a size 56. Cycling Weekly reports the claimed figure as 791 g, about 60 g less than the v1. The number is for UL Black, a clear coat over raw carbon that Enve says weighs 31 g and comes in 40 g under the painted White Lightning finish.
The complete bike claim is 6.8 kg for a size 56 in UL Black with SRAM Red AXS. Two independent scales back it up: Cyclingnews weighed that exact bike at 6.73 kg without pedals, Escape Collective got 6.7 kg on a Force build. Our explainer on the 6.8 kg rule covers why the UCI limit still matters.
The seatpost is new, a two bolt aero design that Enve says is 28 g lighter than before.
Aero: 17 watts, and where Enve says they come from
The 17 watt figure is measured against the Melee v1 at 50 km/h. Enve's breakdown, as reported by BikeRadar:
| Component | Claimed saving |
|---|---|
| Frame, fork and seatpost | 11.4 W |
| SES Aero Road bar with 1.2 mm Aero Race Tape | 3 W |
| Aero bottle cages, with standard round bottles | 2.6 W |
Development took place in the Mercedes AMG Petronas tunnel at Silverstone with Simon Smart, with a rider pedalling rather than a mannequin. Enve also claims 3 to 4 watts over a Trek Madone with aero bottles and a Specialized Tarmac SL8, rider included. That is a manufacturer figure against competitors and should be read as one.
What the independent wind tunnel test found
Cyclingnews tested the Melee v2 with its standard protocol: 40 km/h, seven yaw angles, and a baseline bike it runs at every session. Three results matter.
- Bike only, stock wheels: 36.56 watts better than the baseline. Dedicated aero bike territory.
- With a rider: 25.91 watts better than the baseline, third of every bike the magazine has tested, 1.66 watts behind the Cervélo S5 and just behind the Factor One. The error margin on the day was 3.7 watts, so the top three overlap, and the Melee is about a kilogram lighter than the two ahead of it.
- With control wheels, the older SES 4.5: mid table, alongside dedicated aero bikes such as the Cube Litening Aero, and close to 7 watts better than the v1 frame, fork and cockpit on the same wheels.
Escape Collective's take was cooler: a bike that feels good first and goes fast second, with snappy handling that stays stable at speed. The two verdicts are not incompatible. The tunnel data is strong, the ride impression is of a light bike rather than an aero one.
Geometry
Seven sizes, 47 to 60, with five fork rakes to keep the handling consistent. Longer seat tubes on the bigger sizes leave more room for saddle height.
| Size 54 | Size 56 | Size 58 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reach | 386.7 mm | 393.3 mm | 400.1 mm |
| Stack | 547.4 mm | 564.7 mm | 584.9 mm |
| Head tube angle | 72.5° | 73.2° | 73.2° |
| Seat tube angle | 73.8° | 73.5° | 73.2° |
| BB drop | 73 mm | 73 mm | 71 mm |
| Chainstay | 410 mm | 410 mm | 412 mm |

Builds and prices
| Build | Groupset | Wheels | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro Red | SRAM Red AXS E1 2x12 | SES 4.5 Pro | €15,199 |
| Premium Red | SRAM Red AXS E1 2x12 | SES 4.5 or 6.7 Pro | €14,199 |
| Premium Force | SRAM Force AXS 2x12 | SES | €11,999 |
| Foundation Force | SRAM Force AXS 2x12 | SES | €10,149 |
| Frameset | €4,999 |
Pro, Premium and frameset prices are from Enve's European store. The two Force builds are as reported by BikeRadar; Cycling Weekly lists them differently, so treat those figures as provisional. Pro builds get the SES Aero Pro V2 one piece bar, the others the SES AR. Colours are UL Black and White Lightning. At the time of writing every complete build shows as sold out on enve.com in Europe. Both groupsets are SRAM, and our groupset explainer covers what separates Red from Force.
What Enve does not say
No fork weight. No frame weight by size for the painted finish. No stiffness data. No CdA figures behind the 17 watt claim, only the breakdown above. And no team: Enve says the bike is built for the WorldTour, but the TotalEnergies deal ended and no new partner has been announced.
Melee v2 or a Pre-Owned Melee v1
If you race, or want the lightest complete bike that still tests as an aero bike, the v2 is the more focused tool and the independent data supports the claims. If you also want a 32 mm tyre in winter, mudguards and a slightly higher front end, the v1 is now the better fit. It is also the one you can buy Pre-Owned.
The Enve collection on Bikeroom lists the current Melee v1 stock, from framesets to Dura-Ace Di2 builds, plus a Showroom 2026 Melee. The road category covers the alternatives. For how the aero race bike class has moved this year, read the Scott Foil 2027 article and the Tarmac SL9 range piece. If you are weighing a light frame against deep wheels, our aero or lightweight wheels piece works through the trade off.
