An aero bike that earned its reputation
Scott developed the Foil RC frame with aerodynamicist Simon Smart, and claims a saving of 16 watts at 40 km/h over the previous Foil. More telling than the number is where the bike has raced. In 2024, Charlotte Kool and Romain Bardet each won opening stages of the Tour de France on a Foil, and Pfeiffer Georgi took third at Paris-Roubaix Femmes on a near-stock bike. A sprint stage, a breakaway, and the cobbles: three very different demands, one frame on the podium in all of them.
What Scott actually changed
The headline feature is the dropped seatstays, angled at roughly 10 degrees to push passing air into the spinning spokes, where Scott says it does the most aerodynamic good. The rear disc calipers are tucked away to keep the airflow clean. Underneath, the top HMX-SL frame comes in at around 915 grams in a size 56, light for a full aero platform. Scott got there with a reworked carbon layup that saves about 9 percent in weight and uses roughly 30 percent fewer joints than the previous Foil, after testing more than 300 frame designs.
The Foil is not only about drag. The Syncros Duncan SL Aero seatpost has flex engineered into it to take the edge off rough roads, which is a large part of why reviewers call the Foil smooth for an aero bike. Geometry mirrors Scott's lightweight Addict RC, apart from a 10 mm shorter reach that comes from the Syncros Creston cockpit. In plain terms, it handles like a race bike without the harshness that used to come with the territory.

A few honest things to know
No bike is without compromises, and the Foil has two worth flagging. It uses a 1 inch steerer, which limits some fit and component options compared with a standard 1 1/8 inch setup, so check that your preferred stem and bar work. And the stock wheels are hookless, which caps the tyre pressure you can safely run. Neither rules the bike out for most riders, but both are easier to plan for before you buy than after.
