Megamo Gravel Size Guide: Silk, West and Jakar

Megamo sizes its gravel bikes in letters, XS to XL, and publishes a separate fit guide for each model. That last point matters more than usual here, because the three bikes do not share a shape. At size M the carbon West has 17 mm more reach and 38 mm more stack than the carbon Silk, and the alloy Jakar is shorter in reach than both. Picking the model comes first. The rider height bands are Megamo's published fit guides, and where Megamo publishes nothing we have written "not published" rather than filling the gap ourselves.

Quick size finder

Find your height, then read across. The Silk column is thinner than the others because Megamo publishes four height bands for a bike that comes in five sizes.

Megamo publishes rider height only. The inseam column is our own cross check, not Megamo data, so lean on it for standover rather than for reach. Where two letters appear, Megamo's own bands overlap and the decision is yours.

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand barefoot against a wall, heels together, looking straight ahead. Rest something flat on your head, level against the wall, mark the point and measure from the floor.

Leg length (inseam). Barefoot, feet about 15 cm apart, press a hardback book up into your crotch as a saddle would sit. Keep it level, mark the top edge and measure down to the floor.

Megamo Silk (gravel race)

The Silk is the race frame, built in SLR and SL carbon, with an integrated one piece bar and stem and a UDH dropout that allows a mullet drivetrain. Megamo quotes clearance for 52 mm tyres at the front and 47 mm at the rear. Chainstays are 410 mm at every size, which is short for the category. Five sizes, XS to XL.

Two things to watch. Megamo's fit guide lists four bands for five sizes, so the XS has no published height range. The product copy on Megamo's own Silk page also still quotes 395 mm of reach and 557 mm of stack as its headline figures. Those match the L in the MY27 chart, not the M. Read the chart, not the headline.

Fit character: the lowest of the three, a road race position carried onto gravel.

Megamo West (fast adventure)

The West is the long distance racer: SL carbon, in frame storage, mounts for three bottles, clearance for 50 mm tyres, and compatibility with a suspension fork and a dropper post. Megamo quotes 8.65 kg for a size M with a SRAM Force XPLR AXS build, which is a manufacturer claim. Chainstays are 430 mm. Five sizes, XS to XL.

The West is longer in reach than the Silk at every single size, and 38 mm to 45 mm taller in stack. If you are moving from a Silk to a West, expect to need a shorter stem, not a longer one. Megamo also specifies the cockpit by size band rather than per size, with 70, 90 and 110 mm stems across the run.

Fit character: long and tall at once, a stable racer set up for luggage and rough surfaces.

Megamo Jakar (alloy)

The Jakar is the aluminium bike with a carbon fork, now with internal routing through frame and fork. It takes 50 mm tyres, carries mounts for racks and bags, and runs 430 mm chainstays. It is the most forgiving of the three in reach and the only one Megamo sizes down to 150 cm. Five sizes, XS to XL.

At M the Jakar is 24 mm shorter in reach than the West and 7 mm shorter than the Silk, while sitting 32 mm taller than the Silk. That combination is the classic touring shape, and it is a real gap rather than a rounding difference.

Fit character: short and upright, the Megamo for riders who find race gravel bikes too stretched.

What riders say about Megamo sizing

Independent testing of the Silk points in one direction.

• It is racier than the average gravel bike. Reviewing the Silk for Cyclist on 22 June 2026, Katherine Moore described a fit that puts the rider in a more stretched out, racy position than most gravel bikes, and a notably long reach for a given size. She also noted that a slightly shorter stem pulls it back.
• The cockpit is part of the sizing decision. Her test bike came with a 36 cm bar, which she found did not upset the handling. Megamo's MY27 cockpit chart runs from 360 mm hoods on the XS to 400 mm on the L and XL, with stems from 80 to 120 mm, so the bar you get is tied to the frame size you choose.

One caveat for buyers of older stock. That review predates the MY27 chart, and the reach figures Megamo published for the previous Silk were longer than the current ones. On a pre-owned Silk, ask for the model year before you assume the size label means the same thing.

Between two sizes?

• Take the smaller size for a lower front end and quicker steering. On the Silk the steps are small, roughly 5 mm of reach between XS, S and M, so sizing down costs you little length.
• Take the larger size for stability and a longer front centre, which is the sensible choice on a loaded West or Jakar.
• The Silk uses a one piece integrated carbon bar and stem, so the stem length is fixed by the size you buy. That makes the frame decision harder to undo than on the West or the Jakar, which use separate bars and stems on most builds.

If your height falls in one of the overlapping bands, the tie breaker is torso and arm length. A long torso points at the larger size, long legs and a short torso at the smaller one.
