Specialized gravel sizing: Diverge, Diverge STR and Crux
Specialized splits gravel into two characters. The Diverge, and the outgoing Diverge STR that you may still find in stock, offer a tall, comfortable endurance and adventure fit, while the Crux is the lightweight race bike with a low, aggressive position. The single most useful thing to know is that Specialized labels its gravel frames by a number rather than S, M or L, and the same number sits much lower on a Crux than on a Diverge, so pick the model for the position you want first, then size by height and reach. How to measure yourself
Height. Stand barefoot with your back to a wall, heels together, and mark the top of your head. Measure straight down to the floor.
Leg length (inseam). Barefoot, feet about 15 cm apart, raise a hardback book spine up firmly against your sit bones as a saddle would sit. Measure from the top of the book to the floor. Your inseam matters more than height for standover clearance and saddle height.
Specialized Diverge
The current Diverge is a comfortable, capable endurance and adventure gravel bike with a tall front end, generous tyre clearance and the Future Shock system to smooth rough terrain. The latest version runs a little longer and slacker than before.

Specialized Diverge STR
The Diverge STR is the outgoing model that added a rear Future Shock for extra compliance. It shares the earlier Diverge fit, with a tall stack and a shorter reach for a relaxed, comfort first position.

Specialized Crux
The Crux is the lightweight race gravel and cyclocross bike, with a noticeably lower stack and a longer, more aggressive drop than the Diverge. It rewards a sporty, road race style position.

What Specialized riders find
Owners praise the Diverge and Diverge STR for all day comfort, with the rear Future Shock on the STR taking the sting out of rough ground, and note the front end is high, so riders who want a sportier position often fit a longer, lower stem or size down. The Crux is widely described as running small and feeling aggressive next to the Diverge and to rival brands, so many riders size up or embrace the low front, while everyone agrees on its very low weight and lively handling.
Between two sizes?
If your height and inseam fall on a boundary, think about position. On the Diverge and Diverge STR choose the smaller size for a slightly lower, sportier front, or the larger size for extra comfort and stack. On the Crux, remember it runs low and long, so many riders size up for a more manageable reach and front end, especially coming from a Diverge. Comparing the stack and reach of a bike you already ride is the most reliable way to decide.
