Canyon Road Bike Size Guide: Find Your Fit by Height and Leg Length

Canyon Road Bike Size Guide: Find Your Fit by Height and Leg Length

Sizing a Canyon road bike

Canyon sells direct, so there is no shop floor to roll a few sizes across, which makes getting the size right up front more important than usual. The good news is Canyon's own Perfect Positioning System sizes you from just two numbers, your height and your inside leg, and it is genuinely reliable if you measure honestly. Canyon frames do not run notably long or short for their category; where riders get caught out is the one piece cockpit on the Aeroad and higher Ultimate builds, where the stem length is fixed per size and only changeable at purchase. So measure carefully and, if in doubt, ask us before you order.

Please note. The sizes here are a strong starting point, not a guarantee. Canyon's own tool leans on your inside leg as much as your height, so measure both, and remember the integrated cockpit is hard to change later. A fit check settles any doubt.

Quick size finder

Find your height, confirm with your inside leg, and read across. The Ultimate and Endurace run the full 3XS to 2XL range; the Aeroad starts at 2XS. The two smallest Endurace sizes use 650b wheels.

Rider height Leg length (inseam) Ultimate (all rounder) Aeroad (aero) Endurace (endurance)
under 160 cm under 74 cm 3XS 3XS
160 to 166 cm 74 to 77 cm 2XS 2XS 2XS
166 to 172 cm 77 to 80 cm XS XS XS
172 to 178 cm 80 to 84 cm S S S
178 to 184 cm 84 to 88 cm M M M
184 to 190 cm 88 to 91 cm L L L
190 to 196 cm 91 to 94 cm XL XL XL
196 to 204 cm 94 to 99 cm 2XL 2XL 2XL

Riders under about 160 cm are served by the Ultimate and Endurace but not the Aeroad, whose smallest size targets around 166 cm and up.

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand barefoot against a wall, heels together, and measure to the top of your head.

Leg length (inseam). Barefoot, feet about 15 cm apart, press a book up between your legs like a saddle and measure floor to spine. Canyon's PPS compares this to your height, so an accurate inseam matters as much as the height figure.

Before you commit. Because the Aeroad and top Ultimate builds use a fixed length stem in the cockpit, decide the size and cockpit at purchase. If your proportions are unusual, talk to us first.

The current road range, model by model

Ultimate (all rounder)

The Ultimate is the balanced race all rounder, aggressive but not extreme, and the most forgiving of the three to size down on if you want a shorter cockpit. Available in 8 sizes: 3XS to 2XL.

Frame size 3XS 2XS XS S M L XL 2XL
Stack (mm) 486 501 523 542 563 583 609 627
Reach (mm) 358 372 378 390 393 401 419 429
Rider height under 160 160 to 166 166 to 172 172 to 178 178 to 184 184 to 190 190 to 196 196 to 204

Aeroad (aero race)

The Aeroad is the aero racer, long and low in feel, so if you sit between two sizes the advice is to size up for the extra stack. Available in 7 sizes: 2XS to 2XL.

Frame size 2XS XS S M L XL 2XL
Stack (mm) 498 520 539 560 580 606 624
Reach (mm) 372 378 390 393 401 419 429
Rider height under 166 166 to 172 172 to 178 178 to 184 184 to 190 190 to 196 over 196

The frame numbers sit within a millimetre or two of the Ultimate, so the racy feel comes from the low, forward cockpit rather than a longer frame. The cockpit width adjusts by about 20 mm each side, but stem length is fixed, so choose carefully.

Endurace (endurance)

The Endurace is the endurance bike, with a much taller stack and shorter reach for an upright, comfortable position. No need to size up here. Available in 8 sizes: 3XS to 2XL, with 650b wheels on the two smallest.

Frame size 3XS 2XS XS S M L XL 2XL
Stack (mm) 510 529 548 568 590 611 637 656
Reach (mm) 350 354 370 375 378 387 405 415
Rider height under 160 160 to 166 166 to 172 172 to 178 178 to 184 184 to 190 190 to 196 196 to 204

At a given size the Endurace stands roughly 27 mm taller and 15 mm shorter than the Ultimate, which is the whole point. Rider heights for the Endurace mirror Canyon's standard road bands and are best confirmed on Canyon's live sizing tool.

What Canyon riders find

The consensus is that Canyon's PPS sizing works well provided you enter an honest inside leg measurement, since the system keys off the ratio of leg to height rather than height alone. Frame reach and stack are mainstream for each category, so Canyon does not run large or small in itself. The recurring fit rule is to size up on the Aeroad for its aggressive position and to feel free to size down on the Ultimate. The biggest practical caveat is the one piece cockpit on the Aeroad and higher Ultimate builds: width adjusts, but stem length is fixed and only specified at purchase, so a rider with unusual proportions can get stuck. Cheaper Ultimate CF SL builds use a conventional two piece cockpit that is far easier to adjust later.

Between two sizes?

Size up on the Aeroad, down on the Ultimate, and stay in your height bracket on the Endurace. Because there is no shop test ride and the cockpit is hard to change, this is a great moment to check with us. Send your height and inside leg and we will confirm the size and cockpit.

These sizes are guidance offered in good faith, not a fitting guarantee. Stack and reach for the Ultimate and Aeroad are official Canyon data and high confidence; the Endurace per size rider heights follow Canyon's standard road bands and are best confirmed on Canyon's live tool.
