Vuelta a España 2026: What Bikes the Pros Are Racing

Vuelta a España 2026: What Bikes the Pros Are Racing

The 2026 Vuelta a España starts on 22 August with a Gran Salida in Monaco and finishes in Granada on 13 September. It is a climber's route, seven summit finishes and two time trials, crossing France and Andorra before the peloton reaches Spain on stage five and settles into the Sierra Nevada. Three weeks of racing puts every brand's flagship on television, and the questions start the same way every year: what is that bike, and can I ride one?

Here is what each WorldTour team brings to the start line this season, with a note on where the same models sit in our pre-owned road bike range. Startlists firm up in August, so treat rider names as expected rather than confirmed.

The GC frames to watch

UAE Team Emirates rides Colnago. Tadej Pogačar's team stays on the Italian marque, and the Colnago V-series remains one of the most recognisable frames in the bunch. Browse pre-owned Colnago.

Visma–Lease a Bike rides Cervélo, now paired with SRAM Red AXS. If Jonas Vingegaard targets the Vuelta, expect the Cervélo R-series on the steep finishes. See pre-owned Cervélo.

Soudal Quick-Step rides Specialized, the Tarmac being the frame of choice on mixed terrain. The Tarmac is also our most-searched model, so we gave it its own guide. Browse pre-owned Specialized.

The rest of the peloton, by brand

The biggest equipment story of 2026 is Bahrain Victorious moving from Merida to Bianchi, putting the Reparto Corse back in the WorldTour with the Oltre RC and the new Specialissima RC. We cover that switch in full in our Bianchi article. Browse pre-owned Bianchi.

Other frames on the road in Spain:

  • Lidl–Trek on the Trek Madone. See pre-owned Trek.
  • EF Education–EasyPost on Cannondale, switching to SRAM drivetrains and Vision wheels for 2026.
  • Movistar on Giant, a home team on a proven all-rounder. See pre-owned Giant.
  • Alpecin staying with Canyon. See pre-owned Canyon.
  • Groupsets: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and SRAM Red AXS split most of the bunch, with Cofidis flying the Campagnolo flag on 13-speed Super Record. Disc brakes and wider tyres are now universal.

From the team car to your garage

The frames the pros race in August are, mechanically, the same platforms sold to the public, and most reach the second-hand market within a season or two. That is the part worth knowing: a Vuelta-spec frame at a pre-owned price is a realistic buy, not a fantasy.

Every bike we list has its condition verified by our mechanics, ships worldwide with a one-year Bikeroom warranty, and is covered by Bikeroom Rider Protection so you buy in full safety. If you want the exact article the riders use, we also list genuine World Tour team bikes that come to us directly from the teams.
