Merida MTB Size Guide: Big.Nine, Ninety-Six, One-Forty, One-Sixty and eOne

Merida MTB Size Guide: Big.Nine, Ninety-Six, One-Forty, One-Sixty and eOne

Sizing a Merida mountain bike

Merida's mountain bike range covers every kind of dirt: the Big.Nine cross country hardtail, the Ninety-Six cross country full suspension racer, the One-Forty trail bike, the One-Sixty enduro machine and the eOne e MTB family (led by the eOne-Sixty). The single most important thing to know is that Merida sizes its trail, enduro and e MTB bikes with its Agilometer philosophy: you choose by reach and overall length rather than by seat tube height, so two riders of the same height can happily pick different sizes. Frame your decision around height first, then let reach fine tune the feel. Browse the range: all Merida bikes at Bikeroom.

Please note. These sizes are indicative, a starting point and not a guarantee of fit. Reach preference, riding style, flexibility and terrain all shift the answer. Treat the tables below as a shortlist, then confirm against the exact bike and model year before you buy.

Quick size finder

Start with your height, sanity check against your inseam, then read across to each model. On the trail, enduro and e MTB ranges the size names run XShort to XLong; the cross country bikes use S to XL. Where a model does not offer a size, we show the closest possible.

Rider height Leg length (inseam) Big.Nine (XC hardtail) Ninety-Six (XC full suspension) One-Forty (trail) One-Sixty (enduro) eOne-Sixty (e MTB)
155–165 cm 70–76 cm S S XShort XShort XShort
165–172 cm 75–81 cm S / M S / M Short Short Short
172–180 cm 79–85 cm M M Mid Mid Mid
178–186 cm 83–89 cm L L Long Long Long
186–194 cm 87–93 cm XL XL XLong XLong XLong
194–203 cm 92–98 cm XXL

Because Merida overlaps its reach figures, riders near a boundary get a genuine choice. Sizing down gives a shorter, more playful and flickable bike that loves tight singletrack and quick direction changes; sizing up gives a longer, more stable platform that shines at speed and on steep, rough descents.

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand barefoot with your back to a wall, heels together and head level. Mark the top of your head, then measure straight down to the floor. Have a second person read the mark for accuracy.

Leg length (inseam). Barefoot, feet about 15 cm apart, press a book or spirit level up into your crotch as if it were a saddle. Keep it level against the wall, mark the top edge and measure from that line to the floor. This is a better guide to standover and saddle height than height alone.

Big.Nine (cross country hardtail)

The Big.Nine is Merida's 29er cross country and marathon hardtail: light, efficient and built to cover ground. Stack sits a touch taller than some pure race rivals, which keeps longer days comfortable. Available in 5 sizes, S to XXL.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
S 432 606 160–172 cm
M 452 606 170–180 cm
L 472 615 178–188 cm
XL 492 624 186–196 cm
XXL 512 634 194–203 cm

Fit character: efficient and even tempered, a comfortable marathon hardtail that rewards a size up for stability on long climbs and descents.

Ninety-Six (cross country full suspension)

The Ninety-Six is Merida's short travel full suspension racer. The current bike is longer and slacker than before, so it climbs like an XC bike but descends with real confidence. Figures below are from the RC build with 100 mm of travel. Available in 4 sizes, S to XL.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
S 433 585 160–172 cm
M 453 585 170–180 cm
L 473 595 178–188 cm
XL 493 604 186–196 cm

Fit character: racy but composed; size down for a whippy, playful XC feel or up for a planted marathon position.

One-Forty (trail)

The One-Forty is Merida's do it all trail bike and the first of the ranges to use Agilometer sizing, so you pick on reach rather than seat tube height. Low standovers and long dropper posts across the range mean most riders can size for feel. Available in 5 sizes, XShort to XLong.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
XShort 426 607 155–167 cm
Short 453 607 165–175 cm
Mid 480 607 173–183 cm
Long 509 616 181–191 cm
XLong 535 629 189–200 cm

Fit character: versatile and confidence inspiring; the big reach jumps mean sizing down feels lively and flickable, sizing up feels calm and stable.

One-Sixty (enduro)

The One-Sixty is the long travel enduro bike, long and low with a steep seat angle for climbing and a stable rear end for descents. Smaller sizes come as mixed wheel (mullet) with a slightly shorter back end, while Long and XLong run dual 29in. Available in 5 sizes, XShort to XLong.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
XShort 415 615 155–167 cm
Short 442 615 165–175 cm
Mid 470 615 173–183 cm
Long 498 625 181–191 cm
XLong 525 638 189–200 cm

Fit character: planted and hard charging; size down for a nimble, jibby ride on tight tracks, size up for maximum high speed stability.

eOne family (e MTB)

Merida's eOne range covers full power e MTBs, with the eOne-Sixty enduro as the flagship and the shorter travel eOne-Forty as its trail sibling. Both use Agilometer sizing and share the same XShort to XLong ladder, so you choose on reach exactly as you would on the analogue bikes. The official figures below are for the eOne-Sixty; the eOne-Forty tracks the same sizes very closely with marginally taller stack, so use these bands as your starting point and confirm the exact model.

Size Reach (mm) Stack (mm) Rider height
XShort 419 624 155–167 cm
Short 439 628 165–175 cm
Mid 459 633 173–183 cm
Long 479 637 181–191 cm
XLong 499 642 189–200 cm

Fit character: tall stack and generous stability; the extra weight of the motor rewards a confident, stable size for descending, so err up if you are between sizes.

What Merida riders find

Riders consistently praise Merida's low standover heights and long dropper posts, which free you to size on reach without worrying about seat tube clearance. On the Agilometer bikes, owners report that the size names map well to feel rather than to a rigid height chart, so shorter riders who want a longer, more stable bike can happily go up, and taller riders chasing agility can drop down. The cross country Big.Nine and Ninety-Six draw comments for a slightly taller front end than some rivals, which suits all day comfort, while the One-Sixty and eOne-Sixty are repeatedly called out as planted and predictable at speed.

Between two sizes?

If you land between two sizes, decide with your riding in mind. Choose the smaller size for a shorter, more playful and flickable bike that changes direction easily and suits tight, twisty trails and jumps. Choose the larger size for a longer wheelbase that stays calm and stable at speed and on steep, rough descents. On the heavier eOne e MTBs, most riders benefit from erring toward the larger, more stable size; on the cross country bikes, comfort and pedalling position may nudge you the other way. Cockpit length, stem and bar can fine tune either choice.

These sizes are guidance, not a fitting guarantee. Stack and reach are official Merida figures sourced per model and size where possible (cross country Ninety-Six figures are from the RC 100 mm build). Rider height ranges are indicative bands to get you close, since Merida's Agilometer sizing is designed around reach rather than height. Exact eOne-Forty per size geometry was not individually confirmed here and is estimated to mirror the eOne-Sixty ladder. Always confirm against the exact bike and model year, as Merida updates geometry between generations.
