Cervélo Gravel Size Guide: Áspero and Áspero-5

Cervélo Gravel Size Guide: Áspero and Áspero-5

Cervélo gravel sizing: Áspero and Áspero-5

Cervélo keeps its gravel range tight and fast. The Áspero is the pure race platform, and the Áspero-5 adds an aero optimised frameset on top of essentially the same fit. The single most useful thing to know is that Cervélo labels its gravel frames by a nominal number (48 to 61), not by S, M or L, and both models share almost identical stack and reach. So choose by the numbers, not the label, and once you know your Áspero size your Áspero-5 size is the same. Browse the full range on our Cervélo collection.

Please note. The recommendations below are indicative and meant as a starting point, not a guarantee of fit. Riders of the same height vary in torso and leg proportion, flexibility and riding style, so treat the height and inseam bands as a guide and confirm against the exact bike before you buy.

Quick size finder

Rider height Leg length (inseam) Áspero Áspero-5
152 to 162 cm 70 to 75 cm 48 48
162 to 170 cm 75 to 79 cm 51 51
170 to 178 cm 79 to 84 cm 54 54
178 to 184 cm 84 to 87 cm 56 56
184 to 190 cm 87 to 90 cm 58 58
190 to 196 cm 90 to 94 cm 61 61

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand barefoot with your back to a wall, heels together, and mark the top of your head. Measure straight down to the floor.

Leg length (inseam). Stand barefoot with feet about 15 cm apart. Place a hardback book spine up between your legs and raise it firmly against your sit bones, as a saddle would sit. Measure from the top of the book down to the floor. That number is your inseam, and it matters more than height for standover clearance and saddle height.

Cervélo Áspero

The Áspero is a fast, road inspired gravel racer with a low front end and quick handling. It suits riders who want drop bar speed on mixed terrain rather than a relaxed touring position.

Size Stack (mm) Reach (mm) Rider height
48 505 370 152 to 162 cm
51 530 379 162 to 170 cm
54 555 388 170 to 178 cm
56 580 397 178 to 184 cm
58 605 406 184 to 190 cm
61 630 415 190 to 196 cm

Fit character: sporty and low, built for speed on gravel.

Cervélo Áspero-5

The Áspero-5 is the aero version of the same race platform. The fit sits within a couple of millimetres of the standard Áspero, so it feels just as low and direct while cutting drag for the fastest riders.

Size Stack (mm) Reach (mm) Rider height
48 500 369 152 to 162 cm
51 525 377 162 to 170 cm
54 550 386 170 to 178 cm
56 575 395 178 to 184 cm
58 600 404 184 to 190 cm
61 625 413 190 to 196 cm

Fit character: the same aggressive race position, now aero optimised.

What Cervélo riders find

Owners consistently describe the Áspero as feeling more like a fast road bike than a typical gravel rig, with sharp steering and a planted front end at speed. Riders who come from endurance road bikes often notice the low stack, so if you value comfort over an aggressive reach many settle on the size that gives a taller front end and add spacers. Testers rate both models highly for tyre clearance and race day pace, and note the flip chip at the fork that lets you tune handling for bigger tyres.

Between two sizes?

If your height and inseam fall on a boundary, think about how you ride. Choose the smaller size for a racier, lower position and snappier handling, which suits flexible riders and shorter, faster events. Choose the larger size for a taller front end and more relaxed reach, which suits long days and riders who want comfort. Comparing the stack and reach of your current bike is the most reliable way to decide.

Figures are taken from official Cervélo sources where possible. Rider height and inseam bands are indicative estimates, not official Cervélo numbers, and should be treated as a starting point. Always confirm geometry against the exact bike and model year before buying.
