BH Mountain Bike Size Guide: Find Your Fit by Height and Reach

BH Mountain Bike Size Guide: Find Your Fit by Height and Reach

BH mountain bike size guide: find your fit by height and reach

BH's off road range runs from the featherweight Lynx Race cross country platform to the longer travel Lynx Trail all mountain bike and the value focused Expert hardtail, with the electric iLynx family sitting alongside for riders who want assistance. On a mountain bike the number that matters most is reach, because it sets how roomy and stable the bike feels when you stand on the pedals. Pick your reach first and let seat height sort the rest. Browse the full range in the BH collection.

Please note. These recommendations are indicative, not a guarantee of fit. Terrain, riding style and body proportions all matter, and a dropper post means seat tube length rarely limits your choice. Treat the tables below as a starting point and confirm against the exact bike.

Quick size finder

Rider height Leg length (inseam) Lynx Race Lynx Trail Expert
160 to 170 cm 73 to 78 cm (approx) SM S SM
171 to 180 cm 78 to 84 cm (approx) MD M MD
181 to 190 cm 84 to 90 cm (approx) LA L LA
191 to 200 cm 90 to 96 cm (approx) XL XL XL

On a mountain bike, sizing down gives a more playful, flickable ride and sizing up gives more stability at speed and on steep descents. Inseam bands are approximate; use rider height and reach as the primary guide.

How to measure yourself

Height. Stand against a wall without shoes, feet together, and mark the top of your head. Measure from the floor to the mark.

Leg length (inseam). Stand with your back to the wall and place a book spine up between your legs, snug against your body as a saddle would sit. Measure from the top of the book to the floor. This number sets your standover clearance and saddle height.

Lynx Race

The cross country and down country racer: light, efficient and fast, with a 67 degree head angle that keeps it quick without being nervous.

Geometry (official, 2025)

Size Stack (mm) Reach (mm) Rider height
SM 589 420 160 to 170 cm
MD 589 445 171 to 180 cm
LA 598 470 181 to 190 cm
XL 617 490 191 to 200 cm

Lynx Trail

The all mountain all rounder: 150 mm of travel front and rear, a slack 65 degree head angle and a steep 77 degree seat angle, so it climbs efficiently yet descends with real confidence.

Geometry (official highlights, confirm per size stack and reach on the product page)

Size Travel (mm) Head angle Rider height
S 150 / 150 65 deg 160 to 170 cm
M 150 / 150 65 deg 171 to 180 cm
L 150 / 150 65 deg 181 to 190 cm
XL 150 / 150 65 deg 191 to 200 cm

Data flag: the Lynx Trail runs a longer reach than the Lynx Race at each size, but BH's exact per size stack and reach were not confirmed for this guide. Check the figures on the specific bike before you decide.

Expert

The aluminium hardtail: a simple, durable trail and cross country bike that is ideal for newer riders and everyday off road use.

Sizing (rider height bands, official; confirm per size stack and reach on the product page)

Size Rider height
SM 160 to 170 cm
MD 171 to 180 cm
LA 181 to 190 cm
XL 191 to 200 cm

Data flag: BH publishes the Expert by rider height. Detailed stack and reach vary by model year, so confirm the geometry chart for the exact bike.

What BH riders find

Owners describe the Lynx Race as a genuinely light, eager XC bike that rewards a forward, aggressive position and holds speed well on rolling terrain. The Lynx Trail draws praise for feeling planted and composed on descents thanks to its slack front end, while the steep seat angle keeps climbing efficient rather than a chore. Across the range riders note that BH sizing runs fairly true to stated height, so most people land on the size their height suggests, then fine tune with stem length and bar roll.

Between two sizes?

If you fall between two sizes, favour the smaller frame for a playful, manoeuvrable ride that is easy to throw around on tight trails. Choose the larger frame if you ride fast, open terrain or long descents and want maximum stability, and you have the reach for it. When in doubt, match the reach figure to a bike you already ride well.
