Cannondale Scalpel

The Scalpel is Cannondale's XC full suspension platform, built around the FlexPivot rear suspension system and race geometry. It has been used in UCI XCO competition and carries the efficiency focus that XC racing demands. The Hi-Mod Carbon and standard Carbon variants target different price points within the same frame direction. What should I check when buying a used Cannondale Scalpel?

On a pre-owned Scalpel, inspect the carbon frame around the head tube, bottom bracket, pivots and dropouts for cracks or impact marks. Because full-suspension XC bikes work hard, check the rear shock and pivot bearings for play and the fork for smooth action and oil leaks.
