Are Bottecchia Bikes a Good Choice?

Bottecchia is a historic bicycles company that originated as a small workshop and was further elevated in 1924 by Ottavio Bottecchia, who passed away in 1927. Over the years, Bottecchia has grown into one of the leading manufacturers of touring and racing bicycles. In 2006 alone, more than 50,000 Bottecchia bikes were sold across Europe. The brand also served as the technical sponsor for the Italian professional team Acqua & Sapone in the Giro d'Italia in 2010 and 2011.

How many types of Bottecchia Bikes for sale can I find on bike-room.com?

Bikeroom lists Bottecchia road, mountain, gravel and triathlon bikes, selected at the end of each cycling season through our direct relationship with the brand. Alongside everyday models you will sometimes find performance frames such as the Emme4 Squadra and Aerospace. Every bike is checked by our mechanics before sale and priced well below original retail, and the range changes as bikes sell.

Who is Ottavio Bottecchia?

Ottavio Bottecchia was the first Italian to win the Tour de France in 1924, leading the race from start to finish. A former soldier in World War I, he bravely served as a messenger on the Austrian front and was later awarded a medal for valor. His cycling talent caught the attention of Henri Pélissier, who recruited him to the Automoto-Hutchinson team. Bottecchia quickly rose to prominence, securing a stage win and second place in the 1923 Tour before claiming victory the following year. Despite his success, his life ended tragically under mysterious circumstances: on the morning of June 3, 1927, he was found unconscious by the roadside near his bicycle, with a deep wound on the back of his head. He passed away about ten days later after a long agony.
