What should I check when buying a used mountain bike?

On a pre-owned mountain bike, inspect the frame around the head tube, bottom bracket, pivots and dropouts for cracks or impact marks. On full-suspension models, check the rear shock and pivot bearings for play and the fork for smooth action and oil leaks. Check the drivetrain, brakes, wheels and tyres for wear, and confirm the frame size and wheel size suit you. Every pre-owned mountain bike on Bikeroom is inspected by our mechanics before sale.
