Haibike was founded in 1995, in the small German town of Schweinfur and stars producing carbon racing bikes under the brand name of the parent company Winora, but soon began to carry the Haibike brand. The brand starts immediately a fast evolution, both technically and as a racing oriented brand, thanks to high-performance MTBs. The 2010 represents a turning point for the German brand, HAIBIKE immediately understands the potential of pedal-assisted bicycles and becomes the "father" of all electric MTBs with the Haibike eQ XDURO model which is presented at Eurobike. The success was immediately overwhelming: never before any manufacturer exhibited a true electric MTB, truly suitable for off-road use. The inverted motor concept, developed by Haibike, and the general style would later be widely copied. Initially, the range included four models (Fully, Hardtail, Cross and Trekking). Demand outstrips production, and stocks of the XDURO model are soon exhausted. This was a turning point in Haibike's history. Already with the very first XDURO model, Haibike uses a special production method: Gravity Casting. This casting process imported from motorbike engineering allows the construction of complex components, making them particularly robust, precise and light at the same time. Then, this technology is being applied by an increasing number of competitors. Design and technology continue to evolve. The XDURO RX receives the first iF Design Award, one of the most important international design prizes. The product range grows to eleven models, followed by further variants, including the eQ XDURO 29, an e-bike that combines two of the main trends: 29-inch bikes and e-bikes. Also presented at Eurobike 2011 is the XDURO Race, a prototype of a fast racing e-bike, which can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h. The positive feedback from experts and great results are achieved in drive tests, so in 2014 Haibike starts the mass production of electric racing bikes: this is the birth of a new category of fast road bikes. Haibike's success continues over the years, both with the muscle bikes, achieving great successes in the World Cup and an Olympic Silver medal, and with the development of eBIKE solutions with a very high technical content, such as the first stem with integrated display and the Modular Rail System (MRS). A mounting rail was integrated in the upper part of the down tube, in which it is possible to fix for example a water bottle or a bag. Today, HAIBIKE is known as one of the absolute market leaders for electric bikes.
